Label it Emerging Technology, Part 1

Technology is going to get better and better in the future. Plenty of things will get simpler and more complicated as new technology is created. The Nanopore Sequencing article was very interesting. In the future we may be able to read or even change peoples DNA. Yes there are technologies that were considered emerging back in 2009 that are being used now.

Wrap Up

Technology is important because it helps to make things easier for people. A lot of people use the computer to look things up and to learn about their favorite topics. Teachers often use technology to teach also. Technology has its ups and downs but it is still important.

Technology has rapidly advanced over the last 5 years. Computers are more proficient and quicker. Smart phones are better than before. Technology has become more simple in some areas while growing extremely complicated in other areas..

Technology will change just like it always has. Over the next 5 years there will be plenty of advances. Yet there are going to be many drawbacks along the way. Maybe there wont be desktops in 5 years, or maybe there will be more desktops than there are now. Smart phones may become non existent, or they might replace desktops completely.

For schoolwork I use a pencil and a piece of paper. I rarely use a computer. Sometimes I take out my calculator but i avoid it as much as possible.

For personal use I use my cell phone. I also play video games. I don't watch T.V unless i'm with my family.

I think that I will use these tools from online a in online b.

If I had to choose between: Blog, Delicious, Podcast, Avatars, Wiki, RSS Feed, Igoogle, and Widgets/gadgets as the tool that is most practical for life long learning I would pick Blog. You can learn so many things from blogs, as they can be run by people or companies. You can learn life lessons or facts, or even just hold a conversation on a persons blog.

I will probably never use delicious again, unless if it is for school.

My favorite tool to create was the avatar. it was fun to do. there were a lot of things that you can do with the avatar.

My least favorite was the Podcast. It wasn't that fun to do. learning should be fun.

To wrap up this post i'll have to say that the information i learned in this class may be useful in the future and some of may never be used by me again. I learned a lot in this class and it was fun.

march 1 podcast

I listened to a podcast about football. It was about wide receivers going into the 2013 NFL draft. It was very interesting, including facts about specific players and what teams may do in the NFL draft. The person was very interesting to listen to and I enjoyed the podcast a lot. I think people create pod-casts and audio files because they can be very fun to make. They may also be a more enjoyable way to learn about topics you like or even things that subjects that bore you. Podcast can be extremely opinion based, but they can also be very informational. People may overload their podcast with facts, or they can just state their opinions the whole time.

Technology

Smart phones are only getting smarter. As time goes on technology is only advancing and getting better. One  article on CNN states that smartphones will eventually not have screens any more. this article goes on to say talk about how they will have bio metric security along with 3D graphics. This means that your smart phone will have 3 dimensional images coming out of your phone like in a futuristic sci-fi movie. The bio metric security system will involve the phone recognizing your finger print, viewing your face, and even paying close attention to how you swipe the screen; although there are many other things phones may be able to do in the future, these are some that were mentioned on CNN. There is a link below to the article for those who would like to read it. It's short but it is interesting.

Voki or Blabberize?

I think that Voki was better overall. There are a lot more features to be used in Voki. with Blabberize you can only make a persons mouth move and have them talk. However with Voki people may create an avatar, and change its looks. The avatar may look however you want it to. There are also numerous avatars to choose from. There are animals and people; there are even smiley faces and Digimon. Overall Voki has more features and is very user friendly.

Netsmartz

I watched the "Your Photo Fate" video on Netsmartz. In the video a teenage girl receives a text fro someone asking for a "hot" pic of her. The video shows what could happen if she sent one or if she decided not to send a picture. In the video if she sent a photo the boy could have showed his friends, who may have passed the picture on to their friends and the photo could end up all over the place. But if she made the right choice and did not send it, then nothing would have happened.

1. What personal information did Teresa give out? None, but there was enough information on the internet to find out all about her.
2. Have you ever put personal information on the Internet?
3. What do you believe is the most important thing to remember when using the Internet? Don’t give out personal information.

Digital Footprint

I am proud of a lot of things. I am proud of my sports and my work ethic. I am proud of my family. I am not really surprised to see anything. there aren't any pictures of me on the internet that i found. I am not embarrassed about anything, i don't get embarrassed easily because there is no reason for me to be embarrassed of anything. I can think carefully about what i do in the future, and portray the kind of image of me that i want people to see.

Cybebully

I thought the movie was alright. Most of the comments were really childish, but the movie did have meaning to it. A lot of cases that deal with cyber bullying are similar to the one that took place in the movie. Things that are said over the internet don't seem to have as much meaning as when you say something to a persons face.

Nettiquettte

What is Netiquette? Netiquette is set of rules for behaving properly online. Netiquette effects everyone who uses the internet. Without rules for behaving online many peoples stuff could get stolen or fights could break out and even cross over to the real world where someone could get hurt. Cyber bullying seems like a popular topic right now and netiquette may help to stop cyber bullying. Cyber bullying is a great example of poor netiquette, as is being rude or just picking on people over the web. On the other hand their are still people out there with good netiquette who are polite and help others online. They don't call out others mistakes publicly, but instead go the person directly and let them know what they did wrong without making fun of them for their mistake. These are just some examples of good and netiquette.

What is copyright?

Copyright is what helps to stop people from stealing music and artwork from others and reproducing it. Without copyright laws a lot of people could get ripped off, and make the money they rightfully earned. In many cases if the infringer is caught they are forced to pay a certain amount of money to the copyright owner, and stop using their work. Copyright laws state that when using someone elses work you must have their permission and give them credit for their work. The author or owner of the work has the right to allow others to reproduce, distribute, and use their work if they wish to do so.

Copyright-Johnny Cash vs Gordon Jenkins

Gordon Jenkins Sued Johnny Cash for writing a song that was originally created by Jenkins. The case was eventually settled out of court 15 years later. The two songs were almost identical despite a few lyrics being changed. The case resulted with Johnny Cash paying Jenkins $75000 http://www.fairwagelawyers.com/most-famous-music-copyright-infringment.html

Research Project

My favorite part of the research project was the power point. It was fun to make, and it wasn't to hard to do. I learned a lot about Argentina.  I found out that one Argentine peso is worth 20 US cents and that there main language is Spanish. I also would jot know about the Iguassu falls if i hadn't done this project. Overall this was a fun project to do.
